Hennessey V700 CTS-V Coupe Runs 11.1 @ 124 mph… but What About OnStar?

V700 CTS-V Coupe burnout

Drag strip weather is upon us as late September has ushered in cooler mornings and, for now, has pushed out the choking humidity that has lingered over Gulf Coast Texas most of the summer. That means more racing, testing and fresh track times from our cars in the coming months. It also helps to have your very own 1/4 mile strip (Lonestar Motorsports Park) located behind your shop.

The timing has worked out well with the completion of a new 2011 CTS-V Coupe and its V700 upgrade. We slapped on a set of drag radials and set out earlier this week to see what numbers this cooler air would allow and whether or not OnStar would be chiming in this go-around.

Thanks to the immense low-end torque and stickier tires, the V700 pulled a 1.6 second time to the 60 ft mark, pulling over 1.2 G’s off the line according to the data from our Video VBOX logging software.

That’s a harder launch than our previous  sedan that triggered an OnStar call on more than one occasion. So the question is… did they call us to check on the coupe?

Well… no, actually. In spite of a more visceral launch than before, the system didn’t detect a “vehicle event” as it did last November. It looks like they may have learned from last time (or perhaps they have black-flagged Lonestar as a sort of Bermuda Triangle of false readings). In any case, we’re happy with the way the automatic coupe took off with a vengeance and skirted close to 10′s on pump gas with very little effort while still remaining very streetable.

Check out the 11.1 second pass below, and stay on the lookout for more video of the V700 coupe, including experiencing the in-car footage of this same pass, coming soon.

Supercharged LS3 Corvette Packages from Hennessey (with Video)

HPE610 Hennessey Supercharged Corvette LS3

For much of its late-model life, the only way the C6 (and previous C5) Corvette could run a roots type supercharger system was to have the hood replaced or hacked up and grafted with an alternative bulge to accommodate the top-mounted blower. This dramatically increased the cost over more easily tucked away centrifugal units that didn’t require purchasing a hood, having it prepped and painted and changing the look of the sleek car.

But now there’s a solution: The Edelbrock E-Force supercharger system. Designed to fit under the factory hood of the C6, its low profile masks the TVS2300 Eaton rotors and long intake runners that give this system the torquey punch you want from a blown V8.

Corvette Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger

For Hennessey Performance’s line of supercharged LS3 (2008 +) Corvettes, the E-Force blower fits the bill. The HPE610 and HPE660 supercharged upgrade packages for the LS3 Vette are decidedly different beasts with the same strategy in mind: Boost + efficiency.

The HPE610 kicks things off with the E-Force supercharger, fuel injectors and a freer flowing air induction and exhaust supported by. All told, the HPE610 produces what it names implies: 610 crank horsepower with 600 lb-ft of torque.

The HPE660 takes the horsepower hunt to the next level with a more aggressive camshaft, ported cylinder heads and stainless steel headers allowing the base model Vette to leap past its ZR1 big brother by over 20 horsepower. At 662 bhp and 648 lb-ft, the HPE660 pushes the lighter C6 beyond the levels of the similarly-equipped HPE650 Camaro — one of the most popular Hennessey upgrades for the 5th gen muscle car for its break-neck acceleration and aggressive rumble.

Each package also comes serial-numbered, features custom Hennessey tuning and extras and a limited HPE warranty.

Check out the recent HPE610 below on the chassis dyno as it puts down over 506 horsepower to the wheels through an automatic…

Camaro Z28′s Supercharged LSA Spied Under New Hood

Camaro Z28 Supercharged LSA 556 HP

The first spy photos of the supercharged LSA inside a factory Camaro test mule has been revealed, along with the supposed design of the top-level Z28′s new hood.

Images of the Z28 test cars have been leaking out for the past few months, but this is the first time we get to see what we’ve all expected: The 556 hp 6.2L LSA engine sourced from the Cadillac CTS-V powering the new Z. Whether or not it will be rated the same as the Caddy is something we’re going to have to wait and see, but fundamentally, the LSA is going to open the Camaro up to the same general lineup of modifications and upgrades found in our Hennessey CTS-V packages.

Just look at our last post on the V700 CTS-V Coupe and you get the idea what we’re thinking for the Z28′s resurrection.

Head over to Camaro5 and check out more pictures of the Z28, it’s LSA and new hood. (Oh, and apparently a new shade of blue for 2012.)

V700 Hennessey CTS-V Coupe Wide Open on Dyno

Hennessey V700 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe

Since the new 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe arrived at the shop, it has seen the addition of our V650 upgrade, where it put down over 540 horsepower to the rear wheels and now the OnStar-inducing V700 upgrade.

But in addition to the standard V700 package, this V features custom-built electronic exhaust dumps before the muffler for a raucous low rpm rumble and full throttle shrill at the flip of a switch.

With the exhaust cutouts closed, the V700 coupe posted its official numbers 598 rear wheel horsepower and a full 631 lb-ft of torque! This was done through the factory 6-speed automatic on 93 octane pump gas.

Check out the video below for an open-dump dyno pull and test the limits of your computer’s speakers by cranking up the volume to hear one rowdy Caddy.

Dodge’s new 6.4L Hemi to get 475 HP; “392″ Designation

Hennessey Prepares for 6.4L 392 Hemi SRT8

It hasn’t been a secret Chrysler is dropping their all new 6.4L Hemi into upcoming models like the 2011 Challenger SRT8 and the new Grand Cherokee, but until recently the public hasn’t been privy to  horsepower numbers. Rumors circled in the upper 400 to 500 hp mark, as the heavy platforms need the extra grunt if they’re going to continue chasing the more nimble Camaro and 5.0 Mustang.

Last week, during their big dealer event that also dropped hints at a new 2012 Viper, documents were leaked giving details of the new product lineup for the Challenger… including… the HP ratings of the 6.4 at 475 HP.

What’s more interesting, at least from an old schooler perspective, is Dodge referring to the new Hemi as a “392″, throwing it back to the days when fender-adorned cubic inch designations told everyone just what lurked under the hood. These days, most people couldn’t tell you the cid of most modern musclecar motors.

6.4 or 392, whichever method suits you, one thing’s for certain: New engines = new fun.
